Multimedia Learning (blog 1)

“Multimedia learning describes learning through the use of pictures and words. Examples of multimedia learning include watching a PowerPoint presentation, watching a pre-recorded lecture or reading a physics textbook (Resilient educator, April 6, 2018).”  But how this relate to education? I think Mayer gave me the answer. As Mayer has stated that “ people can learn more deeply from words and pictures than from words alone (2014, p1)” I am totally agree with this. Personally, I am a student who learn very efficiently with media or with picture,  if compare with class which only contain the text. On the other hand, this also can be seen from another student that I know. I had a summer job in this year, which is being a private English teacher. There was a student who is grade 3. From my observations, this kid shows strong learning motivation in the class when I use lots of media.  However, if I give him lots of writing assignment or reading without picture, he has low efficiency of learning.

Thus, it can be seen multimedia learning environments help people build a strong learning capacity.

  1. Hi Andy, thank you for your blog, I think it is very good that you can observe small details in your life. Generally speaking, third-grade students will not be too concentrated, and the use of a large number of multimedia methods can indeed attract students’ attention well. It gave me a lot of inspiration, thank you very much.
